Grilled Chicken

How does Charcoal Grilled Chicken served piping hot on a grill sound? Tempted?

Give in to your temptations at Rainbow Steak House.

Rainbow Steak House is located on the Ground floor of Custom building in Al Muteena area which is not one of those lively areas famous for eateries. The other branch is in Abu Shagara, Al Qasimi Street Sharjah. I have been to the Dubai branch a couple of times but just once to the one in Sharjah. My review is based on my dining experiences in the Dubai branch.

Signage

The entrance to the Custom building is facing a huge parking lot with ample parking space. A big signage board on Rainbow Steak House is fixed on the left hand side above the entrance.

The restaurant's ambiance, décor and moderately dim lighting are very typical of a casual dining joint.

Customers can choose between wooden chairs and tables inside cabins with doors closed for complete privacy or in the open.

Menu

Don't judge the menu by the restaurant's name! The menu includes variety of Chinese (like Fried Rice and Noodles), Indian (like Charcoal Grilled Mughlai Special Chicken and Chicken Curry), Lebanese (like Hammous and Sheesh Tawook), and Continental (like Steaks & Lasagne) cuisine. It is divided into different sections namely Seafood, Lamb, Beef; Vegetables; Rice and Noodles; Tandoor; Continental and Sizzlers; Desserts and beverages like Soft Drinks and Juices.

You can opt for the lavish buffet layout (AED 84 per Person for lunch or dinner) or order a la carte.

Complimentary Hammous and Salad

I have tried the Rainbow Special Chicken (AED 30 for full portion), which is served on a Tandoor (Grill). It comes with complimentary dishes like Coleslaw, Hammous, Salad , Yogurt, Indian Bread (Roomali Roti) and Arabic Bread.

Ladies can avail of special discounted rates (half price on lunch and dinner) on buffet valid every Wednesday (Terms and Conditions Apply).

Grilled Chicken on Tandoor

Though presented in an appetizing way, the taste is not always commensurate with the presentation. On a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being Poor and 5 being Exceptional, I would rate it as 2.5 (between average and good).

Staff are welcoming and responsive but at times lack the energy and passion to serve customers. In all my visits, upon entering, one of the staff has assisted us with a suitable seating area.

On a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being Poor and 5 being Exceptional, I rate this restaurant as 2.8 (between Average and Good) with the highest ratings on ample parking space, reasonable priced food and beverages and food presentation.

All in all, a good option if you would like to enjoy the unique experience of having meals served on a grill.

A good option if you fancy having delicious Italian food!Pizza Corner is located in the same line as Royal Escot Hotel along the main road opposite Computer Street in Bur Dubai. Finding a parking spot is a matter of chance. It's other branch is located in Baniyas Road, Deira. My review is based on my dining experiences in the Bur Dubai branch.

Though a fast food joint, the décor, atmosphere and dim lighting are quite typical of a casual dining restaurant and give the feel of one of those old school joints. As far as I remember, the interior and sign-age board (picture below) have remained the same since I was a child.

Customers can choose to sit on wooden chairs or elongated cushioned seats. You can enjoy your meals while watching television as a TV screen is mounted on the wall or listen to music (usually some Indian radio station is played at low volume). The restrooms are moderately clean but are small. You need to climb up to the first level by narrowly spaced staircase which can accommodate only one person at a time. As the restrooms are not very prominent, customers may get the impression that there aren’t any until they ask one of the staff for assistance.

The menu includes reasonably priced Italian food like Garlic Bread, thin and thick crust Pizzas with different options on toppings like Vegetarian, Chicken Fajita and Tandoori Chicken served in medium, large and extra large sizes and Pasta and other fast food like Club Sandwiches and non alcoholic beverages like Soft Drinks and Juices.

I have tried the Garlic Bread (AED 8 per plate / 4 pieces per plate - picture below) and Tandoori Chicken Pizza (ranging between AED 33 - AED 45 per serving for medium, large and extra large thick crust Pizzas). The delicious Tandoori Chicken Pizza gives the real essence of Italian food with a flavor of India.

Food and beverage presentation is quite typical of any casual Pizzeria (picture below)

Staff are quite responsive and friendly and provide speedy service. During most of my visits, upon entering, I have been welcomed by a staff who has also assisted me with a suitable seating area.

Reasonably priced delicious food made my experiences worth the money spent.

On a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being Exceptional and 5 being poor, I rate this restaurant as 3 (good) with the highest ratings on taste of food, pricing and opening hours.

All in all, a good place to enjoy a delicious meal.

Hookah Pani, Dhow Palace Hotel, Al Mankhool, Dubai

HOOKAH PANI, DHOW PALACE HOTEL, AL MANKHOOL, DUBAI

Dhow Palace Hotel Contact No.: +971 4 359 9992

Dhow Palace Hotel Website: www.dhowpalacedubai.com

Hookah Pani Opening Hours: 8:00 PM - 2:30 AM

An ideal place to relax and unwind!

Hookah Pani, a sheesha cafe and bar cum eatery is located on the topmost floor of Dhow Palace hotel (four star hotel) in Al Mankhool. The popularity of the hotel can be an effective marketing tool for Hookah Pani.

Finding a parking spot is somewhat a challenge. However, the valet parking service provided by the hotel is another advantage for Hookah Pani.

The interior is quite simple and soothing with comfortable seating. It is softly illuminated with pink lights covered by curtains.

At times, the place tends to get too hot probably due to the lit up sheeshas and smoke.

The loud music though foot tapping makes it difficult to hear even the person sitting beside you. But, this is not much of a constraint for me as I prefer relaxing and enjoying the music.

Restrooms are very clean and located on the left hand side as you walk out of the door.

The menu includes variety of food, alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages and different flavors of regular and ice sheeshas. It is difficult to categories the cuisine due to the mixed variety served like Club Sandwiches and Sheesh Tawook (Arabic Cuisine). I have tried the Chicken Club Sandwich (priced in between AED 30 to AED 35) served with French Fries and Salad) which tasted quite good and was filling. However, in order to make the meal more fulfilling, it should have been served in four pieces instead of two huge halves.

The menu includes regular mocktails like Virgin Mojito, Fruit Punch and Fresh Lime Soda ranging from AED 30 to AED 40 approximately. For customers like me, who like to have something different, there are limited options to choose from. I have visited this place twice and could not decide on what to order in both my visits. I settled for a Diet Coke in my first visit and the staff offered to customize a mocktail as per my preference in my second visit.

The beverages were served in fancy glasses but would have looked more appealing with some add-ons like a slice of lemon in the Diet Coke and some fruit(s) placed on the top of mocktail glasses.

Regular and ice sheeshas, which are quite mild, are served in different flavors and range in between AED 40 to AED 50 approximately.

Staff are friendly and welcoming. Upon entering during my two visits, one of the staff assisted me with a suitable seating spot. In addition, when I could not decide on a mocktail, the staff suggested different options to support me in making a quick decision.

One of the staff serving sheeshas was very courteous and kept asking us if the sheesha is fine.

Service is quite prompt. However, during my first visit, I waited for around 15 minutes for my bill and finally decided to walk up to the cash counter to make the payment. But, I consider this delay as a one time or rare experience, which has not changed my positive opinion about this place.

A bowl of complimentary Pop Corn is placed on every table. Though it is a little oily for my taste, I wouldn't complain as who doesn't like freebies!

My experiences were worth every Dirham figure spent considering the soothing and relaxing ambiance, mild ice sheeshas and foot tapping music.

On a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being Exceptional and 1 being Poor, I rate this place as 3 (good). My two visits were sufficient to make me a regular at this place.

Like to relax after a whole day of hustle and bustle? This is the place to be.

Moulin D'or Bakery & Grill, Karama, Dubai

MOULIN DÓR BAKERY & GRILL, KARAMA, DUBAI

Tel: +971 4 336 9994

Dine In + Take Away + Home Delivery (Terms & Conditions apply)

Opening Hours: 24 Hours

A casual place to dine in or grab a quick bite!

Moulin D'or Bakery & Grill, a Lebanese restaurant cum bakery, is prominently located near Karama Post Office. Situated along the main road, it's quite visible while walking or commuting. However, finding a parking spot is bit of a challenge.

The ambiance and interior is not very different from any other bakery in the city. It is one of those places where you would prefer a rapid meal over relaxed dining.

Customers can choose to sit indoor or outdoor and I must say that the latter is a great option during winters. The additional lighting in the outdoor seating area makes the place more prominent.

For the viewing pleasure of customers, there is a T.V. screen fixed in the indoor and one in the outdoor seating area. You can enjoy your meal while watching T.V. provided you know Arabic as usually some Arabic channel is played on it.

The restrooms are clean and are located on the first level. As I didn’t see any restrooms on the same level, I was under the impression that there aren't any until I asked one of the staff.

The menu includes wide variety of moderately priced food like Manakish, Kebabs, Sheesh Tawook, and Shawarmas and nonalcoholic beverages like Soft Drinks and Juices to choose from. I at times grab a quick shawarma or something small from the bakery section and usually dine in on a weekend after a late night movie as it is open 24 hours. The cakes look really tempting but I can't comment on the taste as I have not yet tried any.

I have also tried the Hammous (AED 15 per plate), Chicken, Cheese and Zaatar Manakish (served in small and large sizes ranging from AED 7 to AED 12 for the small plates and starting from AED 10 for the large ones) and Sheesh Tawook sandwiches (AED 15 per plate served with French Fries, Garlic Paste and Pickle), which are quite flavorful.

In my opinion, the food generally tastes good but is not always presented in an appetizing way. The picture (above) of the Zaatar Manakish I had ordered in my last visit exemplifies what I am trying to get at.

But my last experience somewhat changed my opinion on their food quality. The Hammous I had ordered, though presented well, did not taste like it usually does.

This won't stop me from going there as I still like their Manakish and Shawarma, but I would definitely think twice before ordering Hammous again.

The service is quite prompt and staff are responsive but can be more welcoming and proactive.

Good and moderately priced food and beverages and openings hours are some of the positives of this eatery.

On a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being Exceptional and 1 being Poor, I rate this place as 2.5 (between average and good) with the highest rating on food and beverage variety as compared to other factors.

All in all, a good eatery if you wish to have a casual dining experience.
